COVID-19 Resource Center
HIDA has set up an information clearinghouse on the COVID-19 outbreak for supply chain news and resources of particular interest to distributors, manufacturers and other industry stakeholders.
2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a virus (more specifically, a coronavirus) identified as the cause of an outbreak of respiratory illness first detected in Wuhan, China. Early on, many of the patients in the outbreak in Wuhan, China reportedly had some link to a large seafood and animal market, suggesting animal-to-person spread. However, a growing number of patients reportedly have not had exposure to animal markets, suggesting person-to-person spread is occurring. At this time, it’s unclear how easily or sustainably this virus is spreading between people.
The latest situation summary updates are available on the CDC website.

For The Supply Chain
It is important for the supply chain to talk to customers and avoid behaviors such as over ordering and duplicative ordering. HIDA's Lessons Learned Fact Sheet could be useful as well as the PPE calculator developed by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Preparedness and Response (ASPR) which includes guidance for SARS, MERS and “novel influenza”.
