HIDA has recommended to the government a pandemic framework informed by the product shortages experienced during the COVID-19 and other pandemics.
The HIDA framework supports policy and legislation that:
- Creates a partnership between government, distributors and manufacturers
- Taps distributor expertise to establish and manage a national reserve of key medical supplies
- Examines potential strategies options to diversify production
