Time Sensitive: Action Needed on Proposed US Tariffs
HIDA Government Affairs needs your help weighing in with the office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) – your voice is crucial on this issue. At issue are the proposed 25% tariffs and the drastic impacts they will have on the healthcare supply chain and the patients we serve.
In July, the USTR issued a Notice of Determination and Request for Public Comment regarding proposed tariffs on thousands of Chinese-manufactured products. Like the previous two lists, this proposed tariff list includes medical products. If enacted, a 25% tariff would be applied to countless healthcare products, including gloves, isolation gowns, specimen bags, and wet wipes.
HIDA Government Affairs has submitted testimony and plans on testifying today on our serious concerns regarding the proposed tariffs on healthcare products and how they will unnecessarily increase the cost of healthcare for all Americans, hinder our country’s ability to prepare and respond to public health emergencies, and ultimately limit access to care as well as life-saving medical products.
It is urgent that you take action no later than Thursday, September 6th and submit comments addressing the industry’s concerns with the proposed tariffs.
