HIDA Product Data Exchange to Streamline Product Information Exchange

February 17, 2026 — The Health Industry Distributors Association (HIDA) today announced 33 companies have signed on to the pilot program for HIDA's Product Data Exchange (PDX). The objective of the PDX is to standardize and centralize the exchange of Product Information Management (PIM) data between manufacturers and distributors. PIM data is critical to success in online and e-commerce sales, and includes product descriptions, marketing messages and images.

“Customers are already using the internet to shop, compare and buy medical products,” said HIDA President and CEO Matthew J. Rowan. “The Product Data Exchange will expand the manufacturer-distributor partnership to fully realize the growth potential in online sales.”

The HIDA Product Data Exchange will create a single trusted source for the management and exchange of medical product data. Manufacturers will benefit from reduced data‑entry and more consistent content. Distributors gain faster onboarding, cleaner more complete data, and greater trust in the information driving their e‑commerce channels.
