The Health Industry Distributors Association (HIDA) announced it will develop an online mapping tool under a Department of Homeland Security contract. This resource will help federal emergency responders engage the commercial healthcare supply chain during crises by centralizing key attributes of commercial medical-surgical distribution centers and products in an online resource.

“This resource will allow federal responders to better coordinate efforts with distributors during emergencies,” said Matthew J. Rowan, HIDA President & CEO. “This project is a significant step forward in our ongoing collaboration with government agencies to continually improve preparedness and response.”

“Bringing private and public sector leaders together for pandemic and emergency response has been a key HIDA priority for years,” said HIDA Vice President of Government Affairs Linda Rouse O’Neill. “With this online resource, federal agencies will be able to determine quickly the status of their private sector partners, prioritize assistance, and integrate response capabilities.”

Funding and support for this effort is provided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, National Protection and Programs Directorate, National Risk Management Center, through the National Infrastructure Protection Program Security & Resilience Challenge, which is implemented by the National Institute for Homeland Security (NIHS).
