Healthcare Distribution Identified as Critical Infrastructure


President Trump recently issued updated Coronavirus Guidance for America which states: If you work in critical infrastructure industry, as defined by the Department of Homeland Security, such as healthcare services and pharmaceutical and food supply, you have a special responsibility to maintain your normal work schedule.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is responsible for providing the strategic guidance to ensure the security and resilience of the Nation’s critical infrastructure. CISA has created a list which identifies workers who provide essential services. This list includes:

  • Manufacturers
  • Technicians
  • Logistics
  • Warehouse operators
  • Distributors of
    • Medical equipment
    • Personal protective equipment (PPE)
    • Medical gases
    • Pharmaceuticals
    • Blood and blood products
    • Vaccines
    • testing materials
    • Laboratory supplies
    • Cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting or sterilization supplies
    • Tissue and paper towel products.

This guidance was shared with state and local authorities earlier this afternoon.
