Medical supply product sales to ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) through distribution reached nearly $2.7 billion in 2025, reflecting continued momentum as more procedures shift to outpatient settings. Overall revenue grew 4% year over year.
The strongest growth came from surgical instrument sets and systems, which increased 9.2%, about $30 million in additional revenue. Sutures and related products also rose 8.6%, increasing roughly $10 million. Both categories saw revenue growth outpace unit growth, possibly influenced by inflationary pressures.
Among product categories generating more than $50 million in revenue, only electrolytes and the product category intravenous, arterial cannulas and catheters experienced declines. Electrolytes saw the steepest drop, with revenue down 9.3% and units sold down 13.7%.

According to Brady Baker, Senior Product Manager U.S. Medical Supply Distribution at Clarivate, “The ASC channel continues to be one of the most dynamic segments of the medical supply market. In 2025, we saw particularly strong growth in orthopedic, general, and ophthalmic surgical instrument sets, a clear reflection of the ongoing migration of complex procedures out of the hospital setting. As more total joints, cataracts, and general surgical cases move to the outpatient environment, the demand for procedure-enabling surgical instrumentation in ASCs is following suit.”
