HIDA Unveils Public-Private Framework For U.S. Pandemic Preparedness And Response
HIDA has recommended to the government a pandemic framework informed by the product shortages experienced during the COVID-19 and other pandemics. Neither the private sector nor the public sector alone possess the full scope of capabilities, infrastructure, funding or expertise needed to adequately provide for the nation’s pandemic preparedness and response.
The HIDA framework supports policy and legislation that:
- Creates a partnership between government, distributors and manufacturers
- Taps distributor expertise to establish and manage a national reserve of key medical supplies
- Examines potential strategies options to diversify production
