CMS Proposes Increase in Payment Rates for IRFs in FY 2015
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released its proposed annual payment regulation for inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRFs) effective October 1, 2014. Overall the agency is proposing an increase in Medicare payment rates for IRFs in FY 2015.
Specifically, CMS proposes:
- Increase Payments to IRFs by 2.2% ($160 million collectively)
- Freeze facility level adjustment factors for FY 2015
- Add two additional quality measures to the IRF Quality Reporting Program: NHSN Facility-Wide Inpatient Hospital Onset Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Clostridium difficile Infection (CDI).
