CMS Proposes Pay Rate, Policy Changes for Healthcare Providers in CY2010
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced on Wednesday proposed changes to policies and payment rates for services furnished in calendar year 2010. The proposed changes would impact more than 1 million physicians and non-physician practitioners who are paid under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS), which sets payment rates for more than 7,000 types of services in physician offices, hospitals, and other settings. CMS’ proposals are expected to increase physician payment rates for primary care services, reduce rates for some specialists, require accreditation by certain suppliers, and more.
