REIMBURSEMENT

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) administers Medicare, Medicaid, the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) and the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).

HIDA's members provide a wide range of medical-surgical supplies and equipment to a diverse range of healthcare settings, from physicians’ offices and hospitals, to nursing homes and home health agencies across the United States. As such, CMS reimbursement policies have a significant impact on the medical products distributors and the healthcare providers they serve.

See government resources: MedPAC.gov and MACPAC.gov.

HIDA closely monitors CMS reimbursement changes through the annual physician fee schedule, hospital inpatient prospective payment system, healthcare reform programs and deficit reduction proposals. Each year’s reimbursement updates are collected through year-end and released in January in HIDA's annual Reimbursement Analysis and Outlook Report. State-by-state payment and budget changes are tracked in HIDA's annual State Medicaid Report.
