GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS ALERT

New Presidential Administration; Democrats Widen Majority in Congress

Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) has been elected the 44th President of the United States. President-Elect Obama will take office on January 20, 2009, along with at least five new Democratic U.S. Senators and a greater Democratic majority in the House of Representatives. The HIDA Election Center features background information on the Democratic healthcare agenda, including analysis on potential public health leaders of the incoming administration.

Healthcare reform will be a cornerstone of the Congressional agenda in 2009, and HIDA Advocacy will be meeting with all new members to outline the crucial role of medical/surgical distributors. HIDA continues to represent members on critical supply chain safety, Medicare, information technology, and healthcare access issues.

If you would like to get in touch with your new federal representative in order to describe your role in the healthcare supply chain, please contact Aaron Frazier at 703/838-6127 or frazier@hida.org.

Sincerely,

HIDA Advocacy Team
